Developer Epic Games is launching the new option, named Fortnite Creative, on 6 December. Epic has just announced Fortnite Creative, a new permanent addition that builds on the foundation of the limited-time Playground mode.
Season 7 of Fortnite: Battle Royale is also due to start on December 6, but for anyone in the United Kingdom that will presumably also be Friday - unless you're an insomniac super fan.
Fortnite Creative will be free, too, even if it's initially restricted to Battle Pass owners. There's much more to come and new features and improvements are already in the pipeline for future updates. Season seven is set to begin on December 6.
Using the knowledge and lessons learned from Fortnite's massive success, Epic Games has now entered in the crowded ring of selling games.
Lachlan's video which detailed the entire mode has since been pulled, but not before the entire internet grabbed screenshots and video mirrors (thanks, FortniteIntel). Zip lines also seem to be a thing, so no doubt there will be a few challengings involving these new modes of transport.
The Epic Games Store is set to launch "soon" and specialises in PC and Mac titles, with developers gaining 88% of revenue in sales and the remaining 12% going to the Unreal Engine creator.More news: Trump says hopes to meet N.Korea's Kim in January or February
Players will also apparently be able to share their creations with the rest of the Fortnite player base, with the best popping up as Featured maps which are accessible via rifts in a hub area.
Fortnite Creative is not the final build of the mode, however.
"As a developer ourselves, we have always wanted a platform with great economics that connects us directly with our players", said Epic Games founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney.
Epic has ambitious plans for the service and could eventually take aim at Google Play, which is circumvented with Fortnite's mobile flavor. Epic Games warns that there's still plenty of work to be done.
Expect more details on Epic's store at The Game Awards 2018 on Thursday. In the freeform creators suite, players can design their own maps and modes using buildings, tilesets and other props.
