Apparently the ring that John Drennan gave Daniella Anthony during a Central Park proposal was a little loose and fell off her finger when they were in Times Square. Investigators say the couple scrambled for help after the man - in a scene straight out of a movie - dropped the ring eight feet down a grate near Times Square during his proposal.
Police initially said this all occurred outside the Times Square subway station, the crossroads of the world.
They left without leaving their names or contact information.
They get their ring back, and there's some added spice to their engagement story - a win all around.
"She said Yes - but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate".
"We were walking back to the hotel. We are making arrangements for them to get the ring back", NYPD Sergeant Jessica McRorie told ABC News.

A British couple who suffered the nightmare of losing their engagement ring after their proposal in NY are to be reunited with it after police retrieved it and located them through an online appeal. "Case closed! Love, John, Daniella, and the NYPD".
After thousands of retweets and global coverage, a friend of the couple contacted them and asked if they were the people featured in the NYPD's video - and they were delighted to find that they were.
"We can not thank the people of NY or the police enough".
When no useful response came from the two posts, they posted two pictures of the couple which would help people recognise them better.
