A shocking video, obtained by the Arizona Daily Star, shows the very moment that the deadly Sawmill Fire got started.

The blaze, near Green Valley in Arizona, was started by Dennis Dickey, a 37-year-old off-duty border patrol agent who was attempting a stunt to reveal the gender of an unborn baby in which he shot a rifle at a target in the middle of a grassy area.

The party took place previous year on April 23 and was meant to reveal the gender of the host couple's soon-to-arrive baby, but the explosive reveal instead set fire to the surrounding area, causing a 47,000-acre wildfire and damages worth millions of dollars.

The forest service investigated the fire, which authorities said caused more than $8 million in suppression costs and damages.

During the court appearance in which he was sentenced, Dickey told the judge the fire "was a complete accident", the Daily Star reported.

The Sawmill Fire burned almost 47,000 acres owned by the state of Arizona and various federal agencies, and caused more than $8 million in damage.

An exploding target to reveal a baby's gender is rare. Well, the US Forest Service has now released footage from the scene.

As part of his plea agreement Dickey will make a public service announcement with the Forest Service about the cause of the wildfire.
