Barcelona fear Manchester United are ready to use their financial muscle to beat them to the signature of £55m Chelsea attacker Willian this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.

While Chelsea are thought to be reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, it is thought that they are hoping Manchester United will enter the race to sign the 29-year-old, in order to spark a bidding war.

In case you didn't know.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to reunite with Willian, who he signed during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia will reportedly meet with manager Maurizio Sarri to discuss the future of Willian this week.

The United boss is being tipped to sign a new attacker this summer amid speculation Anthony Martial is pushing for a move away and Willian has been touted as a potential replacement for the unsettled Frenchman.

Barcelona's latest offer has piqued the interest of Chelsea's board and a meeting is due to take place in London to work out the finer details of the bid.

The Standard add that Willian is keen to join Barca, despite the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, Chelsea has continually maintained that Willian is not for sale publically and will make a last-ditch attempt to keep the wantaway midfielder by offering him a new contract behind closed doors.

The Belgian shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, and it remains to be seen whether he will indeed be shipped out by Chelsea FC or not. If this scenario comes to pass, Barcelona will be delighted to not only get their man but also hamper a rival in the process.
