"Zero chance, It will never happen!"
As the demand to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spreads across the country-and with community members building protest encampments outside ICE facilities in several cities this week-some officers with the 15-year-old agency have now added their voices to the growing call to dissolve it.
Democratic Senator Kamala Harris has already made it clear that she favors "starting from scratch" on the matter of immigration reform, while Rep. Mark Pocan - a Democrat from Wisconsin - announced this past Monday that he would be bringing a bill to the floor to formally abolish the agency.
More than 700 planned marches drew hundreds of thousands of people across the country, from immigrant-friendly cities like NY and Los Angeles to conservative Appalachia and in to the front lawn of a Border Patrol station in McAllen, Texas, near a detention center where migrant children were being held in cages.
"Acting Director Homan will be greatly missed in his well-earned (second) retirement", Nielsen said in her statement.

United States lawmakers are voicing the same demand, along with human rights organizations, who note that ICE is a relatively recent creation.
Hundreds of people took part in the "Families Belong Together" march on Saturday, demanding an end to family separations at the border and the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy on immigration.
ICE has been in the center of the storm over family separations at the border. Cortez was among the more vocal candidates calling for ICE to be shut down.
"Instead of being insulted with politically-motivated attacks, the men and women of ICE should be praised for risking life and limb every day in the name of national security and public safety", Johnson said.
