Green has been an irritant in James' quest for a fourth NBA Championship, but some believe they could be teammates in Golden State next season.
Kevin Durant confirmed to ESPN's Rachel Nichols on Thursday that he will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors this summer. According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, that player went as far as to say he believed the Cavs would be up 3-0 if Irving was still around.
Golden State is on the cusp of another National Basketball Association championship, holding a 3-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers going into Game 4 of the finals.
With Curry and Thompson non-factors much of the game, combining for 21 points on 7 for 27 combined shooting, Durant finished with a playoff career-best 43 points.
LeBron said: "That's why they retooled this team, went out and got KD ... if one of them has a bad game they have three or four guys who can pick up the load".
Game 1 of this series will be remembered by how Cleveland let it get away; the botched rebound by Smith to be forever played as one of those quintessential wish-you-had-it-back moments.More news: Washington Capitals win Stanley Cup; first National Hockey League title in team history
James, who can be a free agent in July, stopped just short of saying the Cavaliers don't have enough to beat these Warriors.
They overcame deficits of 17 and 15 points against Houston in the final two games of the Western Conference finals, the second of those on the Rockets' home floor.
After a 110-102 loss in Game 3 Wednesday, the Cavaliers are in position to be the first team to be swept in the Finals since they fell to the Spurs in four games in 2007.
"You definitely tip your hat", James said. "He's an assassin, and that was one of those assassin plays".
Durant won it previous year by averaging 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
Instead, Cleveland is only left to wonder if James is a game from leaving. The Warriors are 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games following a win and 1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
"This is the beauty of this team and the luxury of having multiple big-time scorers", said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "It seemed like every time we needed a bucket he got it for us". Curry has set a plethora of three-point records, both from a cumulative perspective and from an individual game perspective.
