Other artists releasing Record Store Day discs include Arcade Fire, Florence + the Machine, Led Zeppelin, Bleachers, Evanescence, AC/DC, David Bowie, The Shins, U2, Stone Sour, Mastodon, Flaming Lips, The Cure, The National, Iggy Pop, AWOLNATION, Motorhead, MC5, Pink Floyd, The Distillers, Phoenix, Phish and Wilco.

More than 450 titles are being released this year. "Every year I do something up like a Record Store Day cookie, so tomorrow I'm making record cupcakes for the first 50 or so people".

The vinyl record, it's not just for parents and grandparents anymore as record sales and the independent record store have had a resurgence in popularity in the last decade.

DiFabio said the continued interest in the format is because of the socially inviting aspect of it, where a group of people can sit down and listen to an entire record and enjoy it.

Owners say this may be the largest turnout they've seen for Record Store Day Out. Wax Trax will be carrying as many vinyl releases as it can cram on the shelves.

Phish "Billy Breathes", the classic from 1996 on vinyl for the first time.

"Stopping by on Record Store Day and seeing that place is gonna be a madhouse". On the day, there are also special vinyl and CD releases.

For Record Store Day, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and The Flaming Lips collaborated on a 7-inch single with the songs "The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon" and 'Pouring Beer in Your Ear, ' composed by band frontman Wayne Coyne. The single will be backed by a recording of "New York poem (for Polly)" taken from the album Useless Magic that will be released in July.

Record Store Day is noted for limited releases, or pressings, of certain records.

While these exclusives help bring in the crowds, the entire day has become a party for record lovers, Marsh said.
