Police arrest complainant's father who dies in custody.
On Sunday, the rape victim, along with her family members, tried to commit suicide in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence in Lucknow alleging that she was raped by the BJP MLA and his fellow accomplices.
She said, "I want justice, why are they pressuring me for an apology?" Mrs Sengar also asked for narco test on her husband to prove his innocence. This will help in ascertaining the truth and presenting the correct picture.
Speaking exclusively to Times Now, Sengar said that he had gone to visit the SSP office "to surrender", however, he returned as the police "informed him that there was no warrant against him".
"My husband is innocent.I have full sympathy with that girl".
"The language he is using is really typical of rooky MLAs", she said demanding a proper inquiry in the woman's allegations. According to a police spokesperson, a crime branch team arrested Atul Singh Sengar, on the directions of the state police chief. A magisterial probe has also been ordered by the district administration.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its report to the government. This is the "Ravan raaj" that prevails in Uttar Pradesh under the watch of Adityanath.More news: Netflix shares rise as Goldman Sachs raises Price Target
Taking a swipe at the prime minister's proposed hunger strike over the non-functioning of Parliament, the party president separately tweeted, "The barbarism inflicted on a father seeking justice for his daughter in Uttar Pradesh has shamed humanity".
Two days later, the number of injuries rose to 18, the SIT report says, adding that the UP police "acted under duress to save him (MLA's brother)".
BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar rejected the rape charge as a conspiracy by his opponents. "After I filed a complaint in court asking for an FIR against the MLA for raping me last June, the court heard the matter on April 3 and was set to summon the MLA". He has also refused to resign and attributed the beating of the girl's father to a "family divide".
The rape victim said the MLA's men hovered over her father and doctors in the hospital and alleged they oversaw his ill-treatment in jail.
When questions of whether there was any political pressure on the investigative team raised, Krishna said, "Thereis no pressure on the SIT".
Besides the transcript of a conversation between the MLA and victim's uncle in a tape, a video of the rape survivor's father Pappu Singh charging the MLA's brother and his aides of attacking him with rifle butts just prior to his death, went viral on the social media and was aired by several TV channels.
The girl's mother also said the family won't return to Makhi village until the situation was normalised.
