Tony Finau injures his ankle celebrating a hole-in-one during the Par 3 contest ahead of the Masters. What happened next was stomach churning as Finau calmly clicked his ankle back in place before limping red-faced back towards the tee box. He walked off the injury and continued to play. After trying to regain his feet he collapsed a second time before popping his ankle back in place. X-rays revealed no breaks and he is having an MRI scan today before his round.
"Crazy day", Finau later tweeted. Known as a jinx, no one has ever won the Par 3 Contest and the Masters in the same year.
The good news is that Finau remained on the course.
According to him, it was simply a case of "mind over matter". "Obviously how exciting he was, but someone with a bit of color playing this game".
"I wanted to know if I'm able to play and have confidence. If he can do it, so can I".More news: Woman Receives Shocking News From Ancestry.com DNA Test
Most golfers would make the trade in a heartbeat.
In spite of knowing he'd play, Finau didn't realize he'd play so well.
The American is now going to rest and elevate his leg with ice, and get some rest.
Lesson here, kids? Don't run in golf shoes.
Last year, world No.1 Dustin Johnson injured his back while falling down stairs on the eve of The Masters and had to pull out. But then the PGA Tour's longest driver immediately started taking advantage of Augusta National's four par-5 holes.
