However, unlike other Android smartphones, the notch on the Huawei P20 is quite smaller which makes it a bit less annoying. There is a 24MP front-facing camera as well. The third-generation handset includes the triple-camera setup similar to the P20 Pro.
This new triple-camera set-up consists of a 20-megapixel monochrome lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a whopping 40-megapixel RGB lens. Huawei has added features such as four-way autofocus with the help of PDAF, Laser, Contrast and Depth direction. "It features a 12MP 1/2/3" RGB sensor coupled with a 20MP 1/2/78" Monochrome sensor. The phone can also record slow-mo videos at 960 frames per second, although only in 720p resolution.
There's also a massive 4,000 mAh battery which, Huawei boasts, will easily last a couple of days and maybe beyond. Of course, once we get our hands on a review unit, we'll compare the camera of the P20 Pro to the legendary Lumia 1020. It comes in some attractive colours, including the eye-catching, two-tone blue-green gradient version, pink gold, midnight blue, champagne gold and black - all edged with a coloured chrome metal frame. Both models will sport 128GB of storage.
Huawei has introduced two "gradient" colourways, which shift colour depending on the light. The Porsche Design Mate RS is essentially the P20 Pro with a bumped up 2880 x 1440 display and 256GB of storage, in addition to the Porsche Design branding. The display is 0.3-inches bigger than the P20's display, and the display type is different as well (AMOLED vs. LCD). The phone has a 40MP primary camera with a huge 1/1.7? sensor and a f/1.8 aperture.
It also has f/1.8, f/1.6 and f/2.4 wide aperture to capture clear detailed images.More news: Ousted Catalan Leader Appears in German Court
The camera has become the key battle ground of recent high-end smartphone releases, and the P20 Pro takes things to another level thanks to having not one, not two but three sensors and lenses.
There are five colors for the P20 and four colors for the P20 Pro. There's a 4000mAh battery which supports quick charging, although can not be wirelessly topped up despite the glass body.
The device comes with EMUI 8.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. The device will be available in Black, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold and Champagne Gold colour options. Fortunately for Mate 10 owners, you won't be missing out, with Hauwei delivering AI updates to its older devices, much like LG recently did with the LG V30 in the wake of the V30S ThinQ. Indeed, the P20's IP53 rating means the phone is protected from dust ingress but not submersion in water, only a light spray.
The P20 Pro launches April 6 for €899 ($1,116). It is expected that the standard P20 to cost around £650 when it arrives later next month. The P20 Pro also lacks a microSD card.
