In the opinion of US president, Donald Trump, the nuclear agreement with Iran is bad for Washington and needs to be reviewed.
"There are ballistic programs of missiles that can reach several thousand kilometers which are not compatible with UN Security Council resolutions, and exceed the sole need of defending Iran's borders", French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told local press ahead of his scheduled trip to Tehran.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the Israeli regime is in no position to call Iran a threat to the Middle East, stressing the development of the country's missile program is aimed at safeguarding peace and security.
Rouhani stressed it is necessary for all signatories of the deal to adhere to their commitments, adding Tehran will never be the first party to violate the agreement, Tasnim News agency quoted him as saying.
Zarif countered that Europe needed to "play a more constructive role to preserve" the nuclear deal, France24 TV Network said.
Iran seeks the progress and prosperity of all regional countries, Rouhani said, stressing Iran's economic, political and military power was for deterrence not attacking other countries.

Velayati said on Tuesday "the French foreign minister visited Tehran upon an invitation from his Iranian counterpart".
"If not tackled head on, this country risks new sanctions", he threatened.
"Now they ask Iran to enter discussions on other issues".
In December, Iran claimed that United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley "fabricated" her announcement that the charred remains of a short-range ballistic missile discovered in Yemen, which was prominently displayed behind her during her speech, originated in Iran.
Yadollah Javani, the Supreme Leader's adviser at the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also said it would be a "miscalculation" for the West to think Iran is willing to negotiate on its missile programme.
"Iran is not a threat to anyone".
