On House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: "She's insane, but she's a fine woman".
"Many people have asked me how my time as a reality TV star prepared me for the presidency, the truth is there's very little overlap between the two", he said.
He closed by saying: "I just want to say this, this is one of the best times I've had with the media - this might be the most fun I've had since watching your faces on Election Night".
Trump spoke 32 minutes, longer than normal.At one point, a woman heckled Trump to "stop", and had to be shushed by tablemates. Also accepting invitations were eight members of Trump's Cabinet, six senators, four House members, and presidential advisers and relatives Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the foundation said in a statement.
The Gridiron Club's annual dinner has been attended by most USA presidents as well as opposition leaders. The president, not a professional comedian, had some hits, but also drew silence with some cracks. Mr Trump has said that he would never have appointed Mr Sessions if he had known he was going to recuse himself from leading the investigation into possible Trump ties to Russian Federation. The White House said Trump has not yet decided whether to attend this year's correspondents dinner, which is in late April.
