We are keen to see how the Android Go handsets launched so far (Alcatel, HMD/Nokia and now ZTE) fare in the market and are looking to get some hands-on time with the phones while we're here at Mobile World Congress. Still, ZTE boasts a metal frame as the core of the chassis, with glass wrapping around it on both sides.
The ZTE Blade V9 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Like with most companies, ZTE has two variants for the phone: a 32 GB storage with 3 GB RAM and a 64 GB storage plus 4 GB of RAM. ZTE's Blade series is a tier under the top-of-the-line Axon series, and as such garners somewhat of a mid-range distinction. DisplayAlthough the aspect ratios may be the same, the Blade V9's screen is larger at 5.7 inches and has a better FHD+ (2160x1080) resolution. The dual-camera setup includes one 16MP sensor and one 5MP sensor, which allows the device to capture images with bokeh effect.
The ZTE Blade V9 and ZTE Blade V9 Vita will launch with Android 8.1. Prices start at €269 (around $330) for the Blade V9 and €179 (around $220) for the Blade V9 Vita. There are also dual-cameras on the rear with a special sensor dedicated to low-light. The 8 MP camera on the front is ideal for taking selfies.More news: Hewlett Packard Enterprise slated to release earnings after market close
The ZTE Temp Go is now available unlocked in the US with an attractive price tag of $79. Rest of the specs are same as Blade V9. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded. Of course, we can't exactly quantify any of these claims prior to the review, but the Google Pixel 2 XL, which we had handy, couldn't shine almost as bright as the ZTE pair.
Finally, ZTE has today announced its first Android Go smartphone. The device already runs Android 8.1 Oreo. Although, it doesn't has as many features as the regular Android OS. On the front, it has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chats. "The ZTE Tempo Go will provide consumers with an optimized, powerful Android experience created to allow them to do more on an entry-level smartphone than ever thought before". Providing an optimized experience with Android Oreo (Go edition), the ZTE Tempo Go is sold unlocked for GSM/UMTS/LTE networks and is available online at www.zteusa.com/TempoGo for $79.99.
