A United Nations Security Council meeting on Friday to discuss the protests turned into criticism of the United States for requesting to meet on what some member states said was an internal issue for Iran.
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley further scrutinized the Iranian government for its detestable behavior suppressing pro-democratic forces protesting the Islamist regime.
"It is unfortunate that despite the resistance on the part of some of its members, this council has allowed itself to be abused by the current United States of America administration in holding a meeting on an issue that falls outside the scope of its mandate", Khoshroo said.
Heated debate took place on the floor of the Security Council at the United Nations headquarters in NY after its 15 members were gathered at the request of the USA to discuss the current situation in Iran.
"Why is the United States, a permanent member of the Security Council and one of the authors of the UN Charter, undermining the authority of the Security Council as the main body responsible for maintaining global peace and security?"

In June, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson affirmed at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing that Washington's Iran policy is based on supporting "elements inside of Iran" in pursuit of a "peaceful transition of that government".
"No dishonest attempt to call the protesters "puppets of foreign powers" will change that".

In comments that echoed the President's, Ms Haley said the world should "applaud" the protesters' "courage", adding: "The Iranian regime is now on notice: The world will be watching what you do".
The Iranian regime's contempt of the rights of its people had been widely documented, she said. Iran's ambassador to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo slammed the USA government's attempts to intervene in the domestic affairs of the Islamic Republic, Tasnim news agency reported Thursday.
Thousands of government supporters staged rallies in Iran for a fourth day on Saturday, in a backlash against widespread protests that the clerical establishment has blamed on the country's enemies.
British Ambassador to the UN, Matthew Rycroft, refuted the Iranian allegations and said that no one is forcing Iran onto their agenda.
"The people's main demand now is for the government and officials to deal with the economic problems", Ali Akbar Velayati, an adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told the semi-official ISNA news agency on Thursday.
There was concern over the nuclear deal made in 2015 by Iran with the five permanent members, Germany and the European Union that lifted sanctions against Tehran.
"However worrying the recent events were, they did not constitute a threat to worldwide peace and security".
