The superstar of Tamil cinema has kept his fans, fellow actors and political commentators on tenterhooks for several months now. He has said that he is starting his own political party and will be launching it prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Superstar Rajinikanth will spell out his stand on entering politics this morning when he meets his fans at the Ragavendra Kalyana Mndap in Chennai. I'm not new to politics. "Democracy is in bad shape right now, all other states have been making fun of us (Tamil Nadu), I will feel guilty if I don't take this decision now", Rajinikanth asserted. I'm there since 1996. The first one was held in May where the actor, who enjoys cult status in Tamil Nadu, first hinted at a political plunge.
Rajinikanth is scheduled to meet about 1000 fans during the six days ending December 31. If you are entering a war you have to win it and you can't win just because of bravery.More news: Serena Williams to play first match since daughter's birth
At an event at his Raghavendra Thirumana Mandapam in Kodambakkam on Tuesday, Rajinikanth had explained to his fans why he was hesitant to enter politics. I'm not saying that I will come to politics (smiles). He had earlier met his fans in May and clicked pictures with them. Rajinikanth's statements have stirred the political pot in Tamil Nadu which has been going through a political vacuum since the death of AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa past year.
